CHALLENGE: In the throes of a successful rebranding of My Healthy Church for the Assemblies of God, the executive team pulled Seek First leadership in on their core denominational brand to re-imagine this 100-year-old movement in a new light. After first contacting us with a spec request for general concepts, we secured a year-long contract for their church resource brand that carried with it the most welcome case of project scope creep we have seen to this day.

After initially reaching out to us with a request for general concept proposals, we secured a year-long contract to redefine their church resource brand, which, to date, stands as the most rewarding case of project scope expansion we have experienced.

SOLUTION: Internally, navigating the complex relational and political dynamics of rebranding a 100-year-old organization presented significant challenges. It was no small task, especially with the constant turnover of elected leadership, and there were no guarantees of success.

Externally, we recognized that if the organization was ever going to successfully communicate its message to the world, the branding had to be as cohesive and impactful as the United Methodist Church's iconic "Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors." message.

Leadership sought something that they would "recognize when they see it," which, while a commendable aspiration, created a challenge. It meant prioritizing image over message—a strategy that is rarely effective but often emerges when an organization feels overdue for transformation and is willing to embrace change, even if not fully prepared for it.

The final outcome was a comprehensive redesign of their denomination’s 100-year-old brand, spanning ministry and sub-ministry rebrands, product launches, package design, and a brand reveal at their 2014 General Council event.

This culminated in a dynamic exhibit hall experience that was both immersive and retail-focused, offering a forward-thinking vision for the denomination as a voice-driven movement.
